Trials and invitations: how to tell a serious proposal from a bad one

Sooner or later a message will arrive: “We saw your son’s video, we would like to invite him to a trial.” Most of these messages are sincere. A few are not. Here is how to tell them apart.

How contact works on Go2Pro

Every scout, coach and sporting director on Go2Pro has verified their identity with LutinX ID. For a player under 18 they can only write to the linked parent. If someone claims to come from Go2Pro and contacts your child directly, on any channel, that is not how we work.

Signs of a serious proposal

  • The person says who they are, which club they work for and in which role.
  • They refer to a specific video and say what they noticed.
  • They propose a clear next step: a call, a trial date, a visit to the club.
  • They are happy for you to be present and to speak with the club.
  • They answer your questions about costs, travel and insurance without getting vague.

Warning signs

  • They ask for money to “be seen”, to join a list or to secure a trial.
  • They want to talk to your child alone, or move the conversation to a private app quickly.
  • They create urgency: “decide today”, “only two places left”.
  • They ask for ID documents, bank details or a copy of a passport.
  • The club they name has never heard of them.

On Go2Pro, nothing you pay for gives access to scouts. The Passport is free. Plans only change how many videos your child can upload.

Before any trial

  1. Ask for the club’s official contact and check it on the club’s own website or phone number.
  2. Go together. A serious club expects the parent to be there.
  3. Keep all messages in writing.
  4. Agree in advance who pays for travel and what happens after the trial.

Reporting

From your parent area you can block and report any professional. If you are unsure, write to us from the Contact page and start the subject with “Safety”.
